Police have released CCTV of Naya Rivera ‘s final moments as she and her four-year-old son walked to the boat she was renting before disappearing in Lake Piru, California.
Rivera’s son Josey told the authorities that while they were on the lake together his mum had “jumped into the water but didn’t come back up “.
The 33-year-old former Glee star is missing and presumed drowned.
CCTV shows the actress arriving in her large black car and parking near the jetty.
Rivera, who is wearing a cap and carrying a big white bag over her shoulder, is then seen walking with her young son down the boardwalk before they get on a boat.
Hours later, the boat was found when the company that hired it out went looking for it because Rivera was due to return it more than 30 minutes previously.
Onboard, her son was found fast asleep and said they had been swimming but his mum didn’t make it back to the boat.
Captain Eric Buschow, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, told reporters that Rivera’s life jacket was found in the boat although her son was wearing his.
He said: “They were seen going out on the lake together in the early afternoon, and approximately three hours after they left the dock another boater out on the lake discovered the boat drifting with the [son] on board asleep.
“So they contacted the rangers and began an investigation and we’ve been actively searching for the mother since that time.”
He added: “We know that the [boy] had a life vest on, there was another adult life vest found on the boat.”
Rivera was said to be “happy and busy” before her disappearance.
A chilling 911 recording lays bare the moment Rivera was reported missing by an anxious caller who found her son Josey alone.
They said: “Lake Piri, the emergency is we have a missing person.
“We found a little girl in one of the boats by herself and her mom is nowhere to be found.”
The caller then said: “I believe it was a little girl,” because Josey has long curly hair.
